Show r Has education prepared you for the world? J- f ' ,vj f E Amy Aurich: "I would have to say it hasn't But now they are coming out with new programs which are better like in English, -1 there is now Appliedfj Communications- That kind of class is helping us out more. It was started this year. And I think a few teachers make an effort to help prepare us for college. Some of my teachers have taught us how to take notes, for example." Waid Peeler: "I think the school system is doing great in developing courses to prepare me for the future. Education is important and no one can go very far without a diploma. You just won't make it far in life without a good high school education. Math has been the most useful to me. But my message to everyone else would be, get your diploma." m I , If I1 - ' 1 ; Travis Buxton: "I would have to say no because I feel that 70 percent of the stuff you have to spend time on in high school you will never really use in real life. As far as the social part of high school goes, I think it is quite different from real life too. High school is just all cliques and popularity groups. That's not what life is all about." Roxana Slack: "I think high school has prepared me for life and I've received the kind of education I need. For example, my English class has taught me how to talk and also to write about things the way I think, so I can express myself much better. Math is good too, even though I don't like it. It will still be very useful." !E , . , . I, 31 t Monica Fialkowski: "It does in some wavs. We learn a lot about English and math and history. But no one ever really teaches you anything at all about society. And that's the kind of stuff you really need to know to survive in this world." - Q |
