Show A tree grown in Bicknell BICKNELL Bicknell has been named a 1991 Tree City USA. The announcement was made by John Rosenow, executive director di-rector of the National Arbor Day Foundation. "The Tree City USA award indicates that you take your municipal tree care seriously," said Rosenow. "An effective tree care program is an ongoing process pro-cess of growth and renewal, a program of planting and care that continues con-tinues through the years. As a Tree City USA, you have a solid foundation foun-dation for that process." To become a Tree City USA, a community must implement a tree board of department, a community tree ordinance and a comprehensive comprehen-sive community forestry program. In addition, the city must observe Arbor Day. "Congratulations to Bicknell for its excellent urban forestry work," said State Forester Dick Klason. "A great deal of work and planning goes into caring for trees in our cities. Bicknell has done an outstanding job." Tree City USA is a National Arbor Day Foundation program. It j began as a 1976 Bicentennial project co-sponsored by the National : Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. The !
