Show links for Learning' set at area Library A conference designed to help parents in the development of their children's literacy skills will be held at two branches of the Davis County Library on Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, May Entitled "Links for Learning," the conference will include a keynote speech and small group presentations and discussions on self-esteem and literacy, making the home literacy friendly, the public library as a family literacy resource, and preparing pre-schoolers to read. Speakers and presenters include Viva Palmer, a licensed clinical social worker and former principal prin-cipal of Mountain High in Davis County; Dr. Marsha Broadway of the School of Library and Information Sciences at Brigham Young University; Univer-sity; Marsha LeClair-Marzolf, deputy director of the Salt Lake County Library System; and Veloy Richards, reading and language arts supervisor for the Davis School District. There is no charge to attend the conference; however, attendance is limited and preregistra-tion preregistra-tion is required. Main, Bountiful on Saturday, April 25, 9:30-12:30, and at the North Branch Library, 562 S. 1000 E., Clearfield, on Saturday, May 2, 9:30-12:30. "Links for Learning" is sponsored by Davis Head Start, the Davis County Library, the Friends of the Library, Davis School District, Chapter 1, the Council on Infants, Children and Youth, and the Parent Education Resource Center. |
