Show Bountiful Judge Memorial settle for tie By BRET GALLACHER Sports Writer BOUNTIFUL No. 1 met another an-other contender Thursday in 3A soccer, but the victor will have to be settled on another date, as Bountiful and Judge settled for a 1-1 tie. The goalies were the heroes in this match as Bountiful' s John Barlow and the Bulldogs Eric Burine kept their teams from defeat time after time. iA.. "That's what the game is all about,' ' said Judge coach John Ourllette. "We had a good game, everyone played hard, and well." The No. 1 ranked Braves got off to a quick 1-0 lead when Cory Beynon connected on a chip shot from the corner which found the net. Unfortunately, Bountiful would not score again. The game may have ended 1-0 if the Bulldogs had not been the recipient reci-pient of a penalty kick for an illegal push in the goal box. The kick barely bare-ly skipped by the outstretched hands of Barlow to knot the score. The second half was spent mostly in front of Judge's net, but the Braves were unable to capitalize. As regulation ended, the Bulldogs appeared excited to be entering overtime against the No. 1 team, and the Braves were searching sear-ching for answers. The two overtime periods were the same as regulation, with Bountiful Boun-tiful getting opportunities, but Burine stopping them over and over again. "They are definitely not a bad team at all,' said Beynon. "We just weren't ready for the game mentally. mental-ly. I guess we were on spring break a day earlier than we should have been." The tie drops Bountiful to 7-0-1 and Judge to 4-3-1 for the season. "We had a team meeting yesterday," yester-day," said Judge's Ourllette.
