Show AH Wilson receives research fellowship I : t A Bountiful woman recently received an undergraduate research fellowship at the University of Utah to examine how other cultures view right-to-die issues. Ali Wilson, daughter of Jo Lynn Wilson, 293 W. 3100 South, Bountiful, Boun-tiful, and Wayne Wilson, Layton, is a sophomore majoring in university studies. She is a 1990 graduate of Rowland Hall-SL Mark's School, Salt Lake City. The university's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program awarded Wilson $550 for winter quarter. Working in partnership with Dr. Margaret P. Battin, professor pro-fessor of philosophy, she enriches her classroom education by researching resear-ching the philosophic roots of suicide for a source book Battin is preparing. Using language skills she gained last year on a student exchange in what was then East Germany, Wilson reads original German sources. " Words that translate to English as 'free death and 'self murder reveal other perspectives on suicide she said. Translations of Islamic commentaries on the Koran also provide material.
