Show Part of Centennial celebration events Formington snow sculpture contest set breakfast and children's egg-hunt on April 18 and a centennial family tree planting day on April 25. Events in June include city beau-tification beau-tification month and special Flag Day observance. July will see the Miss Farmington pageant and annual an-nual Festivals Days and the Farmington Farm-ington Centennial Production. Other events during the year will include a western comedy production, produc-tion, historic Farmington homes tours, a "haunted woods" Halloween Hallo-ween observance, the 1992 Christmas lighting contest, and a special observance of Farmington's incorporation as a city on Dec. 15, 1892. Budding artists with a flair for making beautiful works of art from plain old snow can enter Farmington's Farm-ington's centennial snow sculpture contest. Centennial officials say sculptors should begin early while the snow is still hot, so to speak, and while the weather continues to cooperate. Rich Hall, snow sculpture chairman, chair-man, said entrants should have their works completed by the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 25. Judges will consider the sculptures from 2-4 p.m. that day, with the awards to be presented at the city office at 5 p.m. Award categories will include the funniest, the largest, the most original, entries by the youngest artists, ar-tists, the best centennial theme and the judges' choice. Photos and names of winners will be posted in the city offices and entrants en-trants are encouraged to keep their snow sculptures cn site as long as r the weather will allow. Winners' photos also will be displayed at other Farmington Centennial celebrations throughout the year. Chairman Hall said artists should contact the city office for entry by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, so the judges will not miss any of the centennial works. Individuals, families, businesses busi-nesses or just groups of friends are encouraged to enter. Farmington's centennial observance obser-vance began at midnight, Jan. 1 with a community bonfire, refreshments and a fireworks display. Centennial committee chairman John Green said other events this month include chariot races each Saturday at the Davis County Fairgrounds at 1 p.m. A kite flying contest is scheduled for March 21.
