Show 'Cats help Braves gain mention in natidnal paper By DAVE MOODY Another fabulous football season has come to a close. The awesome power of the Woods Cross High football team has dominated the scoreboards for most of the season, and the fans have been rejoicing. Finishing the season with a 10-3 record and second place in the 3A state championship is not bad. Not bad at all. Not only did the team have much local and state recognition, they also had national recognition twice in USA Today, the Oct 24 and Nov. 6 issues. Of course this recognition is due to "wonder boy" Kitt Rawling's incredible athletic ability. In fact, not only is he a good athlete, he is generous as well. It was because of Kitt that Bountiful High was also mentioned in the Oct. 24 issue of US A Today - "Kit Rawlings ran for a stalc-fccofd 417 years, three TDs (6, 47, 80), leading Woods Cross High to a 28-21 victory against Bountiful." I'm sure that all of Bountiful High is as happy as can be to get such a mention. Anyway, Woods Cross is proud of the team, which, by the way, has a better record tharr any previous Woods Cross team. A special thanks goes to all the coaches who made it all possible. The players that were named to the all-state team are Joe Harmer, Mike Hawley, Greg Poole and Kitt Rawlings. We congratulate these athletes as well as the entire WX football team for the outstanding efforts they made throughout the season. Some of you look perplexed. You are probably wondering why this football write-up is about two weeks later than the final game. Because of the deadlines for this paper, this column has to be turned in a week before it comes out, and since I couldn't predict the final outcome of the team, I had to wait until all the games had been played. On the 30th, the Lady Basketball team plays at Bonneville at 5:00. Also, the wrestlers will wrestle with . East, at East. Dec. 1 has a few events to offer. There are a boys' basketball game, Orem at WX, 5:30; swimming, Judge at WX, 3:15; and a stomp put on by the seniors. The activiites on the 5th are wrestling at WX and the Lady Cat Basketball team's involvement in a tournament Hey, guess who is coming to WX! Yes, the amazing and mystifying mystify-ing Jack Lythgoe will be astounding the masses with his feats of hypnotism hyp-notism on Dec. 5, at 1:15 and 7:30. This is always a treat because we can usually see certain victims' true personalities come through. I have seen the show the past two years and I know that it is much better than Broadway's CATS. In fact, I'm going to see Jack Lythgoe again and again. The Wildcats of the week are Trina Bingham and Nicole Terry. Trina likes to cook, make crafts, do aerobics, snow ski and loves Woods Cross sports. She dislikes it when people are critical or judgmental. She is a member of the Key Club, FHA and the anti-drug group at WX. Nicole likes music, dance, men and chivalry. Interestingly enough, she dislikes "'chauvinism. She is a member of the Key Club, NHS and FHA. These students should be commended for the fine contributions that they make to the school. Thanks for tuning in! See you later! |
