Show Lakeview displays works of Stan Elmer BOUNTIFUL - Color is the attraction at-traction to this showing of water-color water-color paintings by award-winning Utah artist Stan Elmer. Subject matter includes many scenes of the West...from coastlines to mountain-tops. mountain-tops. Stan's specialty is the scenic aspects of farmlands and ranchlands in the rural areas of the Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain West. A resident of south Davis County for 22 years, Stan grew up in Utah Valley on a farm outside of Payson. He has sketched, painted, and taken scenic photographs, since he was in junior high school. As an architecture and geography student at the University of Utah, specializing in regional planning, -Stan had the opportunity to take -many; -classes- that have helped his art. These not only included basic ( design, drawing,'" arid ' painting ' classes from His1 'art and architecture ' professors, but geology, geography, botany, and wildlife ecology classes that sharpened his understanding of the outdoor world. Because of his interest in nature and the out-of-doors, Stan has traveled, hiked, and photographed extensively throughout the West He has taken art classes from some of Utah's best George Dibble, Dib-ble, Ed Maryon, Richard Van Waggoner, Wag-goner, Ken Baxter, and most recently, re-cently, Norma Forsberg. In the last art class he took at the BountifulDavis Boun-tifulDavis Art Center, Norma also treated the class to an enjoyable watercolor demonstration by Nancy Lund. With the help of these classes and their talented instructors, combined with Stan's interests, he has developed de-veloped his own style. ' In addition to the show at Lakeview Hospital, Stan will have a 'booth on the north end of the Tabernacle grounds as part of ' Bounuful's Summerfest USA. A few of his works can also be seen at the Apple Frame Gallery across the street west of the Tabernacle. |
