Show V iewmont High Viking Views By RUTHANNE HANSEN Yeah, today is officially the last day of third term, and am I happy, as is everyone in Vtewmont High School! But what real significance signifi-cance does this event hold? Well, : spring break is tomorrow through ; next Monday, and for those of you who like trivia, there are 47 school days left in the year 1989; the year is three-fourths over, . and you should feel good! Back to spring break, there is nothing more relaxing than lying next to a cool, blue, sparkling pool, listening to your favorite tunes, and ' sipping' an ice-cold glass of lemonade, the sun beating down on your closed eyelids and seeping into every pore. Finally, someone vakes you up, warning that you're getting burned. As you open your eyes, you see the flashing 6:30...6:30...6:30..it is then that you realize you had been dreaming of last weekend and in reality it was Tuesday morning and you have to face the first day back from spring break. Heavy depression de-pression sets in as you prepare for the day-right? Wrong. The student body officers realized real-ized how important it would be to snap everyone out of depression and into rejuvenation. The. result : is...Vspirit week," The real bulk of : this week will be spent introducing and highlighting the spring sports. The week willjalso include a variety of activities; dress up days, inter-mural inter-mural volleyball, pep rally, track meet and soccer games, and the battle of the bands. The schedule is as follows: - " , . Monday, last day of spring break so make the best of it! Tuesday, red and gold day (wear those colors): cheerleading uyouts begin; soccer game that night under the lights at VHS against WX at 7:30. ' Wednesday, dress up in your work uniforms (i.e.) Hardees, janitorial, jani-torial, secretarial, etc.; track meet at Highland at 3; volleyball intermur-als intermur-als that night at 7, bring your team or organize them there. Thursday, shorts day; pep rally organized by the VHS cheerleaders. Friday, black day (wear black) it'll be perfect for the battle of the bands -rock on dude! , Keep in mind that mis outline is in the final stages of preparation, and could be altered, so listed to Jason Ja-son for details. , At this time, we'd like to tell the cast of the "Sound cf Music," the director. The result was a packed house and several standing ovations. Many were impressed and amazed that a high school was capable of such a performance. Congratulations on an outstanding musical. All juniors need to keep in mind that student body elections are coming com-ing up very soon! If you are even considering the possibility of running, run-ning, start planning now. It's more work than you realize. Petitions will be available April 3 in the office. A word of advice: Over spring break, play bird, get a good tan, and get rested.
