By RUTHANNE HANSEN ; Staring at the cup of money, L Mike and Lisa realized they had a , tough decision ahead of them. They ' , looked at each other, then at their classmates, and back at the cup. Should they give their lunch money, or shouldn't they? Their conscience - ' said "Do it; Their stomach said "Keep it" Just at this precise moment, mo-ment, , they heard click of the P. Let me remind you one last time of our motto, 'Don't give till it hurts, give till it bleeds! That was the shove that sent the stone rolling. No longer was it a question. Mike and Lisa eagerly turned their pockets inside-out, stuffing the cup full of wrinkled dollar bills and loose change. Even though their stomachs would suffer, it was worth it! They passed the cup h- on to the next generous person. " The student body officers and class officers want to thank all of the Lisa's and Mike's at Viewmont, as well as the faculty, administra- uoirand she community members . for their contribution to the Santa- Aid this year, It was a huge success, grossing approximately $6,000. . The money was used to purchase sweats, mittens, boots, : pajamas, toys, canned goods, hams, jugs of apple cider, loafs of bread, and Christmas stockings stuffed with holiday treats. The gifts were delivered de-livered to the Guadalupe Center on Dec. 22, by the homeroom reps, seminary council, VHS officers, CJH officers and others who helped ' with the preparation.. .oh yea, Santa was there too! , As the gifts were passed out, the feeling in the air Was electric. The kids were amazed at the tall Stacks of colorful boxes and squishy bows and "Santa's Helpers" had a blast watching their faces as they ripped open each present, wondering what wasiaside! The next two hours were spent playing with dolls, cars, assembling G.I. Joe jets, zooming Barbie cars down cement halls, giving piggyback piggy-back rides, sitting on Santa's lap, dumping out stockings to see what was inside, eating cookies with hot chocolate, asking the question, "What did you get?", and running around singing Christmas carols. |
