Each month at Millcreek Junior High the teachers nominate and vote on a boy and girl from each grade to be "student of the month," The following six are November's Students of the Month: Ninth grader Scott Beckstead has a grade point average of 3.83. He's 14 years old, on the high honor roll and enjoys school. He said "It's great for me." In his spare time he likes racing his radio control car. When asked what kind of animals he has, he responded by saying, "I have a fish, a dog, and a brother." Ninth grader Alison Johnson has a grade point average of 3.38. She considers herself pretty smart. Even though she's on the citizenship honor roll, she's not on the honor roll. During her free time she likes to travel and camp out. Her favorite classes are physical education and business dynamics. She's the youngest in her family. Dan Messick and Laurel Starkweather Stark-weather were elected as eighth grade students of the month by the teachers at Millcreek Junior High. Dan is 14 years old and likes skiing. He loves all kinds of sports and his favorite class is math. Laurel Starkweather is 13 years old and likes skiing. Her favorite class is physical education. Katie Deakin and Wayne Mower were the seventh grade students of the month. Katie and Wayne think student of the month is alright. , They are both 12 years old. Wayne Mower likes to water ski and snow ski. He also likes all sports, especially football and basketball. bas-ketball. Wayne enjoys making models in his spare time. He thinks junior high is okay and industrial arts is his favorite class. Katie, on the other hand, enjoys playing the piano. She also likes to read in her spare time. She says that junior high is much better than elementary ele-mentary school and her favorite class is Spanish. Winners of the yearbook cover contest are Trevor Smith, Bryan Larsen and Chelsea Gilmore. Fourteen-year-old Trevor Smith won first place in the yearbook cover contest. He won $20 and the picture he drew will be the cover the 1988-89 yearbook. Trevor has always liked art and has a talent for it. He is also on the school basketball basket-ball team. He plans to use the money for Christmas. Bryan Larsen won second place and $15. Bryan plans on using the money to buy Christmas presents. He has been interested in art as long as he can remember, and entered the contest because he thought it would be fun. Chelsea Gilmore received $10 for winning third place in the contest.
