Show Davis Dartboard. By AMBER WORKMAN After a refreshing Thanksgiving break, the Darts are back in school patiently awaiting Christmas vacation! vaca-tion! Over this Thanksgiving holiday, the FBLA sponsored a very successful suc-cessful and well-attended Christmas Christ-mas Festival. Arts, crafts, and baked goods were on display throughout the halls and cafeteria of Davis High. This was an incredible incredi-ble undertaking and all participants and organizers are commended for handling things in such a professional profes-sional manner. Also during the break, following hours of hard work and practice, the choirs from Davis performed an excellent Christmas concert at the Tabernacle on Temple Square. Basketball season will be starting start-ing up soon for the Davis boys' varsity team, and already underway under-way is Lady Dart basketball, indoor in-door soccer, and wrestling. Teams are outstanding this year, and everyone's support is strongly encouraged. en-couraged. "Students of the Month" for De cember are Roger Dorius and Circe King. Music was the emphasis for selection this month, and these two students certainly fit the bill. Roger plays the saxophone, is drum major of the band, and sings with the Madrigals. Circe is assistant assis-tant concertmistress of the Davis High School Symphony Orchestra, Orches-tra, is a member of the University of Utah Orchestra, and plays her violin in numerous other local orchestras. Congratulations to these talented musicians! As a reminder, the Christmas Dance is this Saturday at 8 p.m. in the cafeteria and the theme is an "Old Fashioned Christmas." Congratulations to those de-bators de-bators who participated in the annual Governor's Cup at West High. Many of our students placed high in the overall standings and qualified for nationals. Also, the orchestra's final "Pops" concert, under the direction of Mr. Mars-den, Mars-den, was given last Tuesday and was exceptional! Last week the studentbody officers offic-ers sponsored an anti-drug and alcohol assembly. A motivational movie, featuring many popular performers, was shown to the studentbody. stu-dentbody. In the way of other activities, a group of Davis history students will soon be departing for Washington, Washing-ton, D.C. in correlation with the Close-Up Program. These students stu-dents will be spending seven days in our nation's capital, taking one day to spend in Virginia. Major points of interest included are Williamsburg, Wil-liamsburg, the Jefferson Memorial, Memo-rial, the Washington Memorial, and Arlington Cemetery. By way of announcement, wrestling is now underway and the team was victorious in their season opener last Tuesday. Also, the Christmas Dance is not far away! This dance is put on by the cheerleaders cheer-leaders and will be held the evening of Dec. 10. The theme is "An Old-Fashioned Old-Fashioned Christmas" and it is girls' choice. |
