Show Bruhn elected GREDA International prexy Robert Bruhn of Bountiful, recently re-cently elected International President Presi-dent of Governmental Refuse Collection Col-lection and Disposal Association with headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., was chosen by Public Works Magazine to be featured on the front cover of their August issue. Included in the magazine was a full biographical sketch of their cover subject and an article written by Mr. Bruhn on Bountiful City's success story of automated solid waste collection. Known as one of the best master mechanics in the business, over the years he has kept aware of improved im-proved technology and applied it in his employment and areas of supervision super-vision for the city of Bountiful during dur-ing the past 19 years. Bob is office supervisor of the streets and sanitation sani-tation department and fleet supervisor super-visor of the maintenance department, depart-ment, which includes all city departments. de-partments. Making sure that the department's depart-ment's budget was as efficient as possible, while continuing to upgrade up-grade the city's fleet and working conditions has been a constant challenge for Bob. Respected as one who would represent his fellow employees on important issues, he was elected many years to serve as president of the Employees Association. He presently serves as co-chairman on that committee. At the annual exposition, held in Baltimore, Md., Aug. 25, GRCDA elected Bob as the new international internation-al president to lead their organization organiza-tion of Solid Waste Professionals. GRCDA sponsors technical seminars semi-nars covering a variety of subjects including collection, disposal, hazardous waste, resource recovery, recov-ery, landfill gas control, recovery and utilization. The membership, composed of professionals from the public and private sector of waste management, manage-ment, participate in efforts with other organizations, to influence actions at the local, state and federal feder-al level, pertaining to all aspects of waste management that challenge today's society and for the future. Bob became a member of GRCDA in 1980 and was elected president of the Utah Beehive Chapter for 1981-82. He served on the International Board of Directors, Direc-tors, successfully organized the first International Road E-O for sanitation equipment operators where he served as chairman four years. He was appointed international interna-tional by-laws chairperson for 1986 ROBERT BRUHN and has held positions for the past three years on the executive committee. com-mittee. In recent years his knowledge and expertise of automated collection collec-tion systems in the waste management manage-ment field have been sought by private pri-vate managers and government officials in many areas of the world. In December 1985, Bob was1 awarded the Individual Accomplishment Accom-plishment Award from Utah for his contributions to the solid waste profession. From his early years in the humble hum-ble surroundings of an orphanage, his positive attitude and ever-present ever-present sense of humor have helped him become a self-educated, self-educated, contributing member of his community, country and the GRCDA organization. "Success isn't how far you got, but the distance dis-tance you traveled from where you started." Those who know him would find this an apt description of Bob Bruhn. He has worked in both private and public -law enforcement, served in the Army National Guard and in the Marine Corps. Bob has a dedicated involvement in church and civic affairs, including service in the scouting program. Bob has been a certified defensive driving instructor for the Utah Safety Council for several years and has worked as a volunteer ambulance driver and fireman for both Davis County and Bountiful City for a total of 12 years. He and his wife, the former Von-da Von-da Warner, have been married nearly 36 years and are the parents - of five married children and grandparents grand-parents of 18.
