Show Btfl. Council considers name change on street By KATHLEEN WILSON Mark Eubank of KUTV Channel 2 thinks Thunder Mountain Road has a nice ring to it. He has proposed prop-osed to the Bountiful City Council that 1375 E. in Bountiful be officially official-ly named "Thunder Mountain Road" with 1375 E. under the name. The 190 foot long road has only three residences; all agree to the change, and all are willing to pay for the sign. Council members expressed concern that streets with names are more difficult for emergency per sonnel to locate; they say the coor--' dinate system of numbers and directions are much easier. However, streets that may start out running east-west and change to north-south are often given names for continuity. The traffic safety commission had recommended the request be denied. Two city council members were in favor, Barton and South-wick, South-wick, while Shafter was opposed. The action requires the vote of the full council. Since two were absent, ab-sent, it was put on the agenda for July 27, when it will require a majority ma-jority in favor to be passed. |
