Show Parking plea Everyone knows that the University is a huge mindless bureaucracy Yei witnin tnat nuge entity there must be some individual attention qive to its members or it cannot be an effective institution. The Department of Parking Services is at the top of the list as red tan and bad management go. Numerous students have 'been directly or i directly victimized by the "service." n Parking Services has adequate floor space and staff. Lost records or payment of tickets should not be a problem. But it is. A student who ha1 paid $3 for parking in an A sticker area is usually not too happy When J finds he has a registration hold next quarter because the service has lo his record of paying the ticket. By this time the ticket has gone up &' because of late payment. $8 is a steep penalty for parking in the A are-because are-because you couldn't find a B slot within a half-mile of your class In other cases students have not been able to pay their tickets because some good Samaritan passerby has seen fit to remove the ticket from the owner's windshield. However, Parking Services has another copy of thai ticket and if not paid within a week the amount increases. After foui tickets your car may be impounded. Naturally a person assumes that if he hasn't seen the ticket he doesn't have one. Parking Services certainly cannot be blamed for the passerby who wishes to "remove your fine," but it is their problem and no one else is in the position to solve this problem. Parking Services must make more of an effort to reach those who have received tickets or are on the impound list. KUER could read a list over the air. Parking Services could send letters to cars that are registered with the service. Seepg. 7 for related letter |
