Show Social work students see program change A new program to train students in the field of social welfare is being offered by the School of Social i Work. The program has been offered since the beginning of this quarter, replacing the old social welfare emphasis previously offered of-fered by -the Department of Sociology. Students complete their baccalaureate bac-calaureate degree in one of the related fields in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and are awarded certificates from the School of Social Work. These certificates qualify the graduates for membership in the National Association of Social Workers and for a license to practice social work in Utah. According to Au-Deane Cowley, of the faculty of the School of Social Work, the program also is useful for students planning to go into graduate work in the related fields of social and behavioral sciences because of the understanding un-derstanding of social welfare problems, programs, needs, services ser-vices and issues gained. The program is being financed by a grant from the Division of Family Services, totaling about $130,000. |
