Show rags iwoivo Presidental search " Sub-committee named to screen candidates The Alumni Board chairman for the ad hoc "search" committee John Crawford, invites Alumni suggestions for potential can- m M I I warded President Harnu ni t The Board of Directors of the University Alumni Association has named an ad hoc "search committee" com-mittee" to propose and screen candidates for the University presidency. In a special meeting of the Alumni Board of Directors, Oct. 25, board members accepted the invitation of the Utah State Board of Higher Education to assist the search and resolved to "take an active role" in screening potential candidates. The Alumni Board named John Crawford, Jr., to chair the ad hoc committee, and named Dr. Burtis R. Evans and Mrs. T. Upton (Rhoda) Ramsey as members of the committee. Alumni Association President Harold (Hack) Woolley and Executive Director Mrs. Richard D. (Lee) Ence will be ex-officio ex-officio members of the committee. Screen candidates The resolution of the Alumni Board says, "the Board is very concerned about the selection process for a University president" and has "named a sub-committee to screen candidates" for the job. Alumni President Hack Woolley says the ad hoc committee "is just a search committee. It will accept names proposed by alumni and other sources, prepare portfolios on the qualifications of potential candidates, contact candidates to determine their interest, and submit a list of names to the full Board of Directors of the Alumni Association. The Alumni Board as a whole will screen the candidates and submit the best three or four names to the screening committee of the Utah State Board of Higher Education." Wolley is one of eight University alumni selected to membership on the 19-member Presidential Search Committee. Committee includes The State Board of Education's committee is chaired by Peter W. Billings, and, in addition to Woolley includes Donald B. Holbrook, Roy W. Simmons, Dr. William Mulder, Mrs. Dorothy B. Watkiss, Dr. William S. Partridge and University President Alfred C. Emery. Three of the search committee members Duane Moss, Paul Haglund and Colleen Taggart were selected from the studentbody. Eight members of the State Board's committee are non-alumni. |
