If this happens the Utes will turn to their ground game featuring Belczyk. The Ute mighty mite is currently f.fth in the WAC in rushing with a s.a yard per carry average. Belczyk can also catch passes and is a deadly threat on the screen. The other Redskin runner will be Lai Poulson who has been running better and better every game. The Cowboy running game is not quite up to par with Utah's They feature Frosty Franklin at fullback who is seventh in the conference in rushing but has to take a second place to Fox's passing. Ute coach Bill Meek feels that the Cowboys have solved some of their defensive problems that they had earlier in the year and appear to be more solid now. In a fitting climax to homecoming week activities, the Wyoming Cowboys take on the Indians Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Ute Stadium. The battle pits two teams with identical (2-2) Western Athletic Conference records going at each other with the winner coming up on the plus side of the won-loss column. Wyoming is coming off two straight losses, to BYU 35-17 and UTEP 12-7. Utah, on the other hand, is trying to get back on the winning trail after dropping a game to Arizona last week in Tucson. The game should be similar for both teams; keep the ball in the air. With both the Utes and Cowpokes boasting the top two passing quarterbacks in the conference it should be a contest to see which team has the best pass defense. Slinging the ball for Wyoming is quarterback Gary Fox Fox is the current passing and total offense leader in the WAC, averaging over 189 yards on offense and over 200 yards per game passing. Fox's current favorite to catch his passes is his tight end Ken Hustad. Hustad is second in the WAC in pass receiving averaging 3 9 yards per catch. Cowboys split end Scott Freeman is right behind Hustad in the pass receiving department picking up 3.6 passes per game. On the Ute side the passing is just about as good. Longmire is right behind Fox in both categories and was the leader for a good part of the season. He will be throwing to the leading pass catcher in the conference in Fred Craves, who is averaging better than four yards per catch.
