Show Phillips grants awarded Phillips Petroleum Company has awarded two grants totaling $3,000 to the University, according ac-cording to University President Alfred C. Emery. A $1,5000 grant was presented to the college on the "special occasion" of its new building dedication for equipment equip-ment and items needed in the new facility. The second $1,500 grant, from the Ph'llips Professional Development Develop-ment Fund, was awarded to "suport and encourage professional growth and development of students and faculty in engineering, the physical sciences, business administration ad-ministration and related fields of study that are. of critical importance im-portance to the petroleum and petrochemical industries," according ac-cording to Robert N. Sears, a member of Phillips' board of directors. Individual grants will be administered ad-ministered by deans and department heads in areas of greatest need for student and faculty awards, traveling expenses and fees for off campus professional society meetings, expenses for visiting speakers and programs, and purchase of reference books and professional publications for departmental use. The Professional Development Fund was established in 1966 by Phillips, and this is the sixth annual award made to the University. |
