Show From steak dinners to pinball machines Well, our old friends the SDSers apparently couldn 't find anything legitimate to picket last weekend. So in desperation they chose the convocation honoring Kennecott's J. P. O'Keefe with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree Friday. Odd they should pick J. P. O'Keefe as the target for their anachronous protest. If we recall correctly, it was J.P. whoprovided the community its only voice of, sanity when they were all excited about the Jerry Rubin thing two years ago. SDS was one of the groups involved in bringing Rubin here, and O'Keefe stood up for their right to do it. And SDS seems to think that O'Keefe IS Kennecott and vice-versa. vice-versa. However, O'Keefe most likely has little influence and even littler control over Kennecott's pollution policies. But we don't mean this as a deterrent, SDS. Keep trying, you may yet find a reason to exist. |
