Goff expressed the opinion that ASUU should be a unionized body which would make demands upon the administration andor go on strike. Mish Howerton, a member of Academic Affairs Board, who came along with Max Goff, said she would like to see the Athletic fee made optional. Two schools of thought on Athletics is prevelant. The first calls for a restructuring of the Athletic fee which could cover other areas like Outreach. The second is one of eliminating the fee entirely and having Utah get out of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Goff concluded his arguments: "We've really got no business funding Athletics." Sorensen in summary said that "we have someone who says this will happen and we someone else say that this will happen, but no one really knows anything." By DAN STEGGELL Chronicle Staff "I agree with Bob Curtis on the Athletics issue," said Pete Sorensen (Humanities), Finance Board Chairman, in a Huddle interview Sunday. "We aren't getting enough services for the money we're putting put-ting into it." "But I think that Curtis' approach consists of bad tactics," he added. Mr. Sorensen was referring to a motion made in last Thursday's Associated Students Stu-dents of the University of Utah (ASUU) Assembly to substitute Curtis' Bill No. 49 in lieu of the athletic allotment of $240,000. Bill No. 49 proposed that one-third one-third of the fund ($80,000) would be given to the Department of Athletics with the remaining two-thirds being placed in an athletic reserve. The bill, which was rejected by the Assembly Assem-bly 28 to 14 with one abstention, stipulated stipu-lated that the reserve would not be spent until certain agreements around the fund-ing fund-ing of Cheerleaders, Utahnas, Marching ASSEMBLY VOTE ON ALLOCATING $240,000 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ATHLETICS: EDUCATION: For: Jacque Conkling, Mary Jane Klc, Danelle Gardner, Jennifer Nelson, Annette Mellor, Michele Marchant.
