Show Symphony ends annual season The Utah Symphony Orchestra will end its 1970-71 season subscription sub-scription series in the Tabernacle Saturday with a sacred trilogy for soloists, chorus and orchestra. The work, "The Childhood of Christ," features the University Civic Chorale, the official choral branch of the orchestra, under directors Dr. Newell B. Weight and Professor John Marlowe Niel-son. Niel-son. , Soloists for the work are Christine Chris-tine Krooskos, Thomas East, Robert Rob-ert Peterson and Don Watts. Symphony officials have called this season "the busiest in its 30 years." Tickets for the final concert con-cert at 8:30 p.m. are on sale at the orchestra office. The Symphony is also sponsoring sponsor-ing the first appearance by the Denver Symphony Orchestra April 17 in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Taber-nacle. The Denver artists will be conducted by Brian Priestman. For the Salt Lake performance, they will perform the overture to "Manfred" by Schumann; "Concerto "Con-certo No. 14 for Piano and Orchestra Or-chestra in E Flat, K. 449," by Mozart; "Burleske in D Minor for Piano and Orchestra," by Richard i Strauss, and Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Opus 43, by Sibelius. |
