Show ASUU stock shows signs of 'potential' Unknown to many, the Associated Associ-ated Students of the University of Utah (ASUU) owns a number of common stocks which haven't exactly ex-actly cornered the markets in their fields. It has been ASUU practice for quite some time to keep a considerable consid-erable portion of its revenues in the form of ready cash, as a sort of gigantic contigncy fund. Two years ago the financial wizards in the south wing of the Union came up with the idea of buying a few stocks in order to have student money earn a little money of its own. Suggested University Computing In giving its approval to the project, the University suggested that ASUU buy into a firm called University Computing, a computer com-puter leasing enterprise run from the University's Computer Center. So ASUU put about $2,000 into the venture. Value Decreased Six months ago, University Computing was worth about 10 percent of its former value, or about $200. But the stock has shown signs of starting back up the ladder recently, so ASUU is planning on . keeping it. In the words of University Univer-sity Business Manager Eldon Cox, the stock has "good growth potential." po-tential." i |
