Show Students Could Lose Service Campus Calendar in red ASUU Executive Council on Thursday will discuss funds for the continued publishing of the "Campus Calendar." Seven thousand calendars are published each Thursday. They are available at Chronicle newsstands news-stands and are free to anyone. Originally Ori-ginally the calendars were only for staff and faculty members, but the Master Calendar Committee decided that instead of having separate calendars for all the clubs, colleges and groups, one master calendar would provide a single major source of information. The University's Public Relations Rela-tions Committee has been funding the printing of the calendars, with the printing being done by the University press. Public Relation's funds have run low and it can only afford to print copies for the staff and the faculty but not enough for the students. stu-dents. The ASUU Executive Council must decide if the calendar calen-dar will be funded for publication for the students. The cost of the calendar is $17.50 per 1,000 copies, which totals $ 1 ,572.50 for the remainder of the academic year. The money normally comes from student funds, but when ASUU Executive Council made the budget for the year, it allotted only $450 for the calendar. A I Walcher of the Finance Board said, "It's mostly a P.R. (public relations) device, and really doesn't benefit the student. How many pick it up and read it?" Ray Heckle of Public Relations said "We went around and looked at all the boxes and they were all gone. It looks like the calendar is being used." Information for any campus ! group for the calendar can be sub-! mitted to the Public Relations 1 Office each Tuesday by 3 p.m. 1 |
