Show Draft official reclarifies lottery details he will be subject only to the lottery lot-tery that will be held December 1, 1970; a persons turning 19 during dur-ing 1971 will be subject only to the 1971 lottery, etc. The Selective Service cannot give information on the chances of being inducted since total manpower man-power requirements cannot be reasonably estimated at this time. All local boards work independently independ-ently of each other; therefore one board could be calling 64's while another is calling 108's. The local boards will accept vol-unters vol-unters for induction prior to the reaching of their sequence numbers. num-bers. Anyone now deferred who was subject to the 1969 lottery will be put in the pool, at their 1969 sequence se-quence number, the year following follow-ing the year their deferment expires. ex-pires. Therefore, if a man's deferment de-ferment expires at the end of spring quarter this year, he will be in the pool for 1971 with his 1969 sequence number. Major Douglas B. Hayward of the Utah State Selective Service Headquarters recently clarified information on the lottery held December 1, 1969. Major Hayward said that numbers num-bers drawn at that time will apply ap-ply to male persons between 19 and 26 years al long as they remain re-main subject to induction, regardless regard-less of deferments. Upon reaching the age of 26, all persons will be removed from the pool. This applies even to those whose number might have come up were they to remain in the pool for the entire year. If two or more men assigned to a local board have the same birth-date, birth-date, their sequence of induction will be determined by the random ran-dom sequence of the alphabet also established at the lottery, last name first, then first name. If a person is in the pool for one year without deferment, he is still eligible until he is 26, or 35 if he has been deferred. But he will only be called after the entire list of birthdates has been called for that year, therefore his chances of induction decrease every year. If a person turns 19 during 1970, |
