Show Letters to tHe EdiTOR Campus Vehicles Editor: Something perverse is going on in the Campus Planning Department First, we are told that motor vehicles will be banished from the campic' interior by the imposition of assorted walkways, benches and plaza?' which action we all vigorously applaud as a much-needed rebuff to the! ubiquitous automobile. But then we notice a curious item: the ne sidewalks are just as wide as, if not wider than, the previously existing roadways. Our worst suspicions are confirmed when a university vehict bears down on us as we move from the library to the bookstore. If Campus Planning is serious about the ban, let's get Universit) vehicles off the sidewalks. If they are not serious, then the ban minimum concession would seem to be the posting of speed limits of the sidewalks. ROBERT M. PIXTONj |
