Show Cache Electric to light campus Cache Valley Electric Co. in Logan and the Howard P. Foley Co. of Salt Lake City were the low bidders in a bid tabulation held for ihe planned campus lighting system in the Slate Capitol Bldg. Tuesday. Low bid for the system was SI 15,220 made by the Logan company. The Howard P. Foley Company's bid was $116,700. Both companies said Ilia t they would lake 180 calendar days to complete the construction work. Other companies bidding for ihe job were Interstate Electric Co. with $134,877 (180 days for completion). Wasatch Electric Co. wiih $1 17,000 (270 days), and Ihe Joseph P . Howard Construction Co. with a bid of $146,241 (190 days). Besides this base proposal, the companies also presented bids for six planned alternatives of which Ihe cost would be added to the basic bid. The six alternatives called for the construction of additional light units in the vicinity of Stewart Hall, on the west side of the stadium, on the circle west of the Park Bldg., and in the vicinity of the Physical Education Complex and Sports Arena; additional wiring and larger conduit, and the putting in of tree well units by the Library Plaza. The lights which are to be installed under this contract are similar to those in the parking lot behind Milton Bcnnion Hall and those in the lot south of the Naval Science Bldg. The lights will consist of an 18 inch translucent sphere on top of a ten foot pole. There will be 500 lights installed 100 to 120 feet apart through-out the new mall. |
