Show Workers replace water-soaked arena floor --i-r-nssrv ' :' ' T- '." .. - - J rm 1 'in Ii Construction workers Tuesday sorted out the last of a jigsaw puzzle which will become the new Sports Arena floor. The piecing together and nailing of the last one-fourth of the floor will be finished Wednesday. Workers must assemble the floor board by board, loosely laying out a large section, then nailing them to the underlying supports with a machine. This floor replaces the old floor which was water-damaged iwo weeks ago. Although building the floor has taken about a week, sanding, sealing and painting the floor will take twice as long. Most of this time will be spent waiting for the scales and varnishes to dry. An experimental water valve accidentally shipped with other valves used in the construction of Ihe buildings waler system resulted in damage to the floor on Oct. 20. The experimental valve failed allowing water to seep under the floor. Ted C. Jacobscn of Jacobsen Construction Co said insurance agents decided Friday to pay for the new floor, which will cost about $20,000.
