Show Kiel program offers summer in Germany for University students Study in Germany. The Kiel Study program will begin March 21 and will be directed by Dr. Heinz F. Rahde, language professor. University students will study as regular members of the German university, and will be afforded all the benefits of the student body there. Students will have the opportunity to live on or off campus with German students. According to Dr. Rahde, the students will have individual opportunities to learn the way of life of the host country. Students will be introduced to intensive German throughout the course as well as orientation to German culture. Twelve credit hours will be given for the German study and two hours in political science will be credited to students as members of the University of Utah. Ten credit hours of elective will be attributed to the students recorded as members of the Kiel student body. During the stay at Kiel, group tours by bus will take participating students to places of special interest. This year the group will spend one week in Berlin and another week in Southern Germany or Italy. Interested students should have completed German 5 or better by the beginning of the program. February 15 is the deadline for application, said Dr. Rahde. At that time $600 down payment must be made and the rest must be submitted by the first of March. The payment will include transportation, living expenses, housing and tuition. In addition, the two trips that are planned are included in the payment.
