Show U Homi economics Students to focus on European cultures Preparing students to go into underprivileged areas and help families is the goal of the tour on Child Development, Family life and Food and Nutrition. Conducted by the Home Economics dept. under the direction of Mary Lowe, chairman of the Department of Home Economics and Maurine Hegsted, assistant professor of Foods and Nutrition. "The need for people with world concerns and relationships in Home economics is so real now, that this tour will educators from all areas and private agencies will introduce in each country a closelv knit series of special visits and field trips to instil utions, plants and schools. People from all areas of the country have signed up for the tour. Students and professional people will be participating with some from Canada, Texas and local as well. Outlining activities, Mrs. Lowe said that the first stop was England where besides the general spots of interest like Windsor Castle, lectures would be given at the Good Housekeeping Institute, National Marriage Foundation and British Food Manufacturers Federation. The stop in France will feature a visit to Versailles plus speeches from the Consumers Union, UNESCO and visits to a Fresh Air Camp for children. f - educate them in many areas," Mrs. Lowe said. The tour costs $1678 and runs from June 27 to Aug. 8. Thirty people have already applied. to give the par-M. par-M. Hegsted ticipants some understanding of people before they leave. Study will include group discussions, interpreting what has been seen. Opportunities have been set up, Mrs. Lowe said, to meet with families informally.
