Show said to uncounted white children that black children are inferior, and that the men who butcher them are heroes. The Federal Communications Communica-tions Commission would do well to consider action against KUED and all other stations with such racist policies. Act Now There are a number of changes that can be suggested to bring KUED and KUER up to an acceptable accept-able level of performance. First, these stations must produce and put on the air large numbers of documentaries on social problems. Second, persons attuned to the current cur-rent social crisis must be hired to do regular commentary on various issues of social importance. Third, these stations must take editorial positions on the various social issues. is-sues. Not until KUED is willing to condemn con-demn the prominent church for teaching racism to little children can it call itself a responsible broadcast station. Not until KUER comes out against the conditions in the Utah State Industrial School will it be of any social value. If these stations sta-tions are to begin making a contribution contri-bution to society a complete change e of management and policy is in , order. And Children Die '- There are eight and nine year old children in Salt Lake who have never been more than a few blocks from home. In all of Utah there is not a single desegregated school. The indifference of KUED and KUER to these problems is obvious. ob-vious. Neither station has ever launched a campaign to eliminate these evils. The racist policies of KUED were clearly illustrated when it put on ! the air a children's show which made heroes of such butchers as , Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis. , If Hitler had been made a hero ! there would have been a great public pub-lic outcry. It is obvious that KUED considers the slaughter of black , children perfectly moral, while according ac-cording Jewish children used in medical experiments a somewhat better break. In effect, KUED has |
