Show Voter Project Began By Catholic Newman Center Each district team will be taught the basics of voting registration by a University student. Then the team begins to work. The members mem-bers go out and strive to get their neighbors to register at the new Hall of Justice. "We feel that the people of Central Cen-tral City will be better heard if they vote in better numbers. They need to get into the mainstream of American Amer-ican life. One of the ways they can do this is to have something to say about America by their vote," concluded con-cluded Miss Uremovich. "Project Voter Registration" for the citizens of Central City was started Friday,' April 19, by the lay apostolate commission of the Catholic Cath-olic Newman Center. Judy Uremovich, Ure-movich, assisted by key helpers Barbara Bickerstaff, Larry Cavan-augh Cavan-augh and Jim McPhetters, led a contingent of a dozen University students to a meeting with citizens from the Central City area at Trinity Trin-ity AME Church. Purpose of the meeting was to lay the plans for the registration ot prospective voters. "Only 40 out of 1,000 of the eligible voters in the area are registered. It is our hope, that by explaining the importance of registration and the how of it . that many more will register before be-fore the May 27 caucuses of the Republican Re-publican and Democratic parties," said Miss Uremovich. In the Central City area, there are 13 voting districts. Each district dis-trict will get its chairman. This chairman will pick several helpers. |
