Show This Week We Honor A iX I JEFF FOX . . . Community Service I By KATHY WARNER A two-and-a-half hour tour of the Central City poverty areas in Salt Lake City Wednesday will be directed di-rected by Jeff Fox, chairman of the Community Service Bureau, and Community Action Project (CAP). Students have expressed a need for such projects after becoming be-coming aware of local problems. Other projects of Community Service Ser-vice Bureau have been a Sub for Santa last December and the sponsoring of black power speakers during Focus Week. Fox and his committee have done an outstanding job in Central City as explained by Kermit Jefferson of CAP: "Fox is one of the few people who have a deep insight into the nature of poverty and is dedicated dedi-cated to the extermination of its causes." -Vice Chairman Greg Karch and others such as Janet Hoyt, Tom Cloyd, Linda Holiday, Peggy Carter, Roger Danniels, Connie Vehar, Miles Walsvigand Ursul Uechker have seen that tutoring tut-oring and research runs smoothly on campus and in the community. Detention homes and homes for the mentally ill are also focal points in the area of community service. On campus the speaking bureau is designed to' go into classrooms to give out information about the Community Service Bureau. In turn, the campus is informed as to what needs to be done and where projects are available. Two blood drives have been the result of such efforts. This bureau works closely with Head Start Program and the American Red Cross. Thanks goes to Jeff Fox for the hours of service he has rendered on behalf of the Community Service Bureau. |
