Show Almost Victory Bell Thieves See Behavior Committee Three students were brought before be-fore the committee on Student Behavior Be-havior Thursday for attempting to steal the BYU Victory Bell. Investigation Invest-igation is continuing to determine whether others were involved. Dr. Jerry Anderson, chairman of the Committee on Student Behavior, Be-havior, said "the University can't condone conduct destructive of persons or other institutions, which results from a misguided sopho-moric sopho-moric sense of school spirit." He emphasized the impractical-ity impractical-ity of unwise school spirit. Many pranks are costly. It is much more practical to buy books than to use that money to clean up blue paint. (Or red, as the case may be.) In addition to being expensive some activities are violative of the criminal law, and charges could be pressed against violators, he said. Problems of this sort have been few this year, but it is important that students be aware of the consequences cons-equences of unacceptably expressed express-ed enthusiasm, he cautioned. |
