Orchesis the University's own dance group will have tryouts tomorrow. The company will put on a Spring modern dance program. Orchesis Dancers Announce Tryouts And 1965 Techniques It is suggested that interested students be prepared to perform a short solo dance and demonstrate demon-strate a knowledge of dance technique. Tryouts for Orchesis, the University Uni-versity dance group, will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the dance studio, Gym 306. HAVING ATTAINED professional profes-sional status, Orchesis has performed per-formed in past dances of the country's leading choreographers, choreograph-ers, including Anna Sokolow, Doris Humphry, Alwin Nicholais, and others. Through the work of Virginia Tanner, a Rockefeller Grant has been obtained for the University; the grant will allow a work or the famed Jose Limon to be presented. MR. SIMON, considered one of the country's leading inspirational inspira-tional and creative choreographers, choreograph-ers, will work with the University's Universi-ty's modern dancers in the presentation pres-entation of his Missa Brevis. Orchesis members will be given giv-en first opportunity for leading roles in the performance, tentatively tenta-tively scheduled for early April. |
