Show Concert Series Set To Raise Funds For Music Scholars An ambitious, all-student concert con-cert series to raise funds for music scholarships at the University Uni-versity will begin April 16 at Kingsbury Hall with a concert by the University A Cappella Choir. THE ENTIRE spring quarter efforts of the University Music Department will be devoted to the concerts, said Dr. Louis W. Booth, director of the fund-raising program. All money raised by the series will be placed in a music scholarship scholar-ship fund. DR. BOOTH said the shortage of such scholarships at the school has prompted 'the program. He said the goal for receipts this first year is $5,000. The department depart-ment plans to make the concert series an annual affair. He said a similar, experimental program last year netted the department $1,000 and that those concerts were sparsely attended. GUEST SOLOIST for the final program, May 19, will be noted pianist Reid Nibley. Other concerts con-certs will include an evening of chamber music in Orson Spencer Hall and a combined program of band and chorus music. Dr. Booth said it was anticipated antici-pated about 500 students would be participating in the event. |
