Show Papooses Set For Tough Clash son from Savannah, Ga., and Rodgers from South San Gabriel, Calif., are the only current prob able starters. The other two starting positions are up for grabs. Despite whoever else Coach Jerry Pimm's freshman team will open the 1964-65 season sea-son against the varsity next Tuesday. This year's annual game will see the frosh spotted a few points as usual. Utah's Papooses, Pa-pooses, led by starters Gene Lake, Marvin Jackson, and Gene Rodgers, are a strong crew and could very well provide pro-vide tough competition for this year's Ute varsity. The frosh include eight players from Utah (seven from Salt Lake City) and one each from Wyoming, Wyo-ming, Georgia, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, California and Idaho. Alex Churchich, 6-foot, 6-inch 6-inch center from Granite High, is a scoring and rebounding ace. A 1964 Utah all-stater, Churchich is being counted on to help provide the size for this year's relatively small team. Former West High ace Gary Kraus is another possible starter. Kraus, a second team all-stater, shoots well and is a fine floor general and will play guard. Other Utah players are Steve Cotteral from Judge, Randy MacKay from Olympus, Dave Pond from Granite, Brent Smith from Bingham, Walter Bills from East, and Louis Strike from East.
