Show Geology Class Researches S. Utah Area Introductory structural geology students were taken on a three-day three-day field trip last week THE STUDENTS .' were under the direction of Dr. T. W. Christiansen, Chris-tiansen, professor of geology. Included In-cluded in the group, were many graduate students an. some students stu-dents from Egypt, .audi-Arabia, Pakistan, Chili, Korea and Central Cen-tral America. The group visited , such areas as the Canyon Range . near Delta, Del-ta, the Salina Canyon the Paria River Valley and the 'Marysvale Uranium District- THE PURPOSE of the trip, Dr. Christiansen said, "was to acquaint ac-quaint the students with the structural features i of the three geologic and physiographic provinces prov-inces within the srtate: the Basin and Range, Central: Rocky Mountain Moun-tain and Colorado 'Plateau provinces. prov-inces. The trip provided an opportunity opportu-nity to see examples of various structures studied in class. IT WAS of interest not only to students of geology, but also to those interested in mineralogy, geophysics, mining, and geography. |
