Show ; 90,000 HUNTERS READY FOR OPENING OF PHEASANT SHOOT I Upland bird hunters were hoping today for fair weather over the next weekend, as an estimated 90,000 gunners prepared pre-pared to go afield for the Nov. 10 opening of Utah's pheasant, quail, chuker and Hungarian partridge seasons. Only hunting in Beaver County Coun-ty will be for pheasants. Reports from the South Milford area, most popular pheasant shooting spot in the county, indicate that the hunt will be "poor." Local sportsmen sports-men attribute the decline in pheasant population to kills . of young birds by foxes and "wild" housecals, normal reduction re-duction of the bird population caused by heavy annual hunts and no bird planting, and to poaching. Special permits for the South Milford hunt may be obtained at the B & J Club, Shay's Recreation Rec-reation and Jefferson's, as well as on the "Flat." Latest weather reports forecast fore-cast good hunting weather for Ihe weekend. Opening hour for the first day, Saturday, is 8 a. m., with the close of shooting at 5:30 p. m. Sunday and Monday Mon-day shooting hours are from 7 a. m. to 5:30 p. m. |
