Show STREET PAVING PROGRAM NEARS COMPLETION Milford's 1955 street oiling i program- is "well under way," I and will be completed within a few days if present weather continues, j A total of 47,000 gallons of I special road oil has been mixed with 4,000 yards of selected finish gravel, ricked up, and part of it spread and rolled into smooth- hard-surface streets. Last year the city council oiled 6100 lineal feet of street, i the first "major" oiling pro-j pro-j gram in the city's recent his-I his-I tory, and adding the 7300 lineal J feet being oiled this year will complete more than 80r' of the city's "inhabited" area. ' The $6,000 cost of this year's j o'ling is being financed, as vas last year's, with no assessment , or increase in taxes, according to street Councilman Wes Bolton. Bol-ton. Each resident along the streets being improved has agreed to pay $36 of the cost, and the balance is being paid from the regular city streets fund. Through an exchange agree- ment, equipment and personnel of the state and county are assisting as-sisting the city employes and equipment with the work. Later, Lat-er, city employes and equip ment will be used to help out on county and state road work |
