Show MINERSVILLE PHONE SERVICE NEAR READY Work has been started to establish es-tablish a new telephone exchange ex-change at Minersville, according accord-ing to Garth I. Boyce, manager for the Mountain States Tele-j phone and Telegraph Company. This will be Utah's 60th exchange, ex-change, he said. A six man construction crew has erected over 100 poles to date with some 50 poles remaining remain-ing to be placed. This work will be completed in a few days, after which placing of vire and cable will then begin. Boyce said that almost two miles of lead-covered j cable and over 84,000 feet of uninsulated un-insulated wire will be used- in completing the outside line network net-work necessary to connecteach line into the central office. About 2400 man hours of labor will be required to complete the outside out-side line wirk alone, the manager man-ager stated. A cinder block, fire-proof building was recently constructed construct-ed to house the modern dial equipment. Installation will start later this year. At the present time this community com-munity is served by eight telephones tele-phones connected to a toll line, but we expect to furnish telephone tele-phone service to about 180 subscribers sub-scribers when this exchange is opened for service early in 1953, Boyce said. One, two and four-party four-party type service wiU be furnished fur-nished to subscribers located in Minersville. All subscribers connected to this completely automatic system in the new exchange will be able to contact each other by simply dialing the desired number. Mr. Boyce said individual contact con-tact will be made to all residence and business houses in the area, to assure that all subscribers who desire service will have an oper-tunity oper-tunity to obtain it on the opening open-ing date. |
