Childs left a few checks for local employees at Schramm's Service. Seems several fellows worked in the harvest and failed to pick up their checks. There's only two more days to register for the 1952 general election next Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 28 and 29. Voting for the candidates you hope will be elected to office is a duty and a privilege. It's a privilege because today many peoples haven't that right. All they can do is mark an X in the only square on the ballot on what their "leaders" ridiculously call "election day." But we've become so accustomed to the privilege that we hold it too lightly and therein lies danger. It is your duty to vote, in order to protect that privilege. A placid people, careless with their ballots, are a los,t people a vanishing entity. Whether you vote Democratic or Republican, or Independent writing in your own candidates, Register next Tuesday or Wednesday, Wed-nesday, and Vote Nov. 4th. We thought everyone was looking forward to the deer hunt, but a couple of guys went beef hunting last Friday evening.
