Milford's American Legion j clubroom will open "in the near j future," it was announced this j week by Jack Crahan commander. command-er. No definite date has been set for the opening, Commander Crahan said, but remodeling of the old Palmer-Baxter Recreation Recrea-tion parlor into a modern, comfortable com-fortable Legion home is being pushed as rapidly as possible. The portion of the building j formerly occupied by Dick's Bar- I ber Shop is being converted into j a comfortable ladies' lounge, Mr. ' Crahan said, and the building also will house a Legion and Auxiliary meeting hall, storage rooms for equipment and paraphernalia, para-phernalia, and a refreshment , bar. The establishment will be operated, as a social club . for Legionnaires, and will be incorporated incor-porated as a non-profit corpora-i corpora-i tion. All revenues from opera- ' ' tion of the club, over and above operating expenses, will be used in the promotion of community projects, Mr. Crahan said. Additional help is needed 1 in remodeling the building, Commander Crahan said. Especially Es-pecially needed are laborers, cabinet makers, painters, etc. . $1 an hour is paid for all werk- ers and anyone-, who has time ' to assist is requested to contact con-tact Mr. Crahan, Ray Walker, or "just show up at the build- j ing and go to work." |
