Show Seconb TUflarb By MRS. BETH FISHER The Milford Second Ward M I A very ably and beautifully portrayed the life and music of composer Stephen Foster at the recent Stake MIA road show. The road show was presented in Minersville and Beaver on Nov 12 and in Milford on Nov. 13. Nelda Memmothh was the read er for the Second Ward act and the various classes sang and illustrated il-lustrated several of Stephen Foster's best known songs. Individual In-dividual parts were taken by Irene Stewart, Ronald Banks and Zelda Merryweather. Gael Elmer sang a solo and Faye Berger and Aaron Hansen sang a duet. Relief Society Conference was held last Sunday evening under the direction of President Helen Gillins, who also gave a report of Relief Society activities. Other Oth-er speakers were Beth Edwards and Emma Smith. Mildred Coon introduced the theme, which was taken from Psalms and was chosen with the following objective ob-jective in mind: To bring peace of mind and a sense of security in this time of uncertainty. Several Sev-eral Scripture readings were given by Florence Beard, and the congregation joined her in repeating the 23rd Psalm. The Singing Mothers sang three numbers and appropriate prelude pre-lude and postlude music was played by Gwen Smith and Beth Leffingwell. Prayers were offered of-fered by Mildred Wilcock and Maud L. Crane. The sustaining sustain-ing of officers was taken care of by Secretary Olive Root. Members of the Relief Society Stake Board were in attendance. Junior Gleaners, Junior M-Men, M-Men, Explorers, and MIA Maids are reminded of the "Lucky Clover" dance to be held in Minersville on Nov. 23. This is to be a stake afafir. Thanksgiving Cheer baskets were distributed to some of the older ward members last Monday Mon-day afternoon. Primary chil? dren, under the direction of the Primary officers and teachers brought items of food to fill Thanksgiving baskets, and then delivered them. Fireside was held on Nov. 18 at the home of Florence and Boyd Evans. Bill Goodwin was responsible for the evening's program. The group had a Bible discussion led by Mitchell Fisher, Fish-er, and then played some Bible games, after which refreshments were served by Mrs. Evans. Several members of the Second Sec-ond Ward attended the MIA Union meeting in Beaver on Nov. 15. There was a social after the meeting. |
