Show UTAH FOUNDATION REPORTS DROP IN BEAVER COUNTY RELIEF CLIENTS Between August, 1950, and' August, 1951, the total number of persons receiving public assistance as-sistance in Beaver County decreased de-creased 7.5, according to a report released this week by Utah Foundation, non-profit tax research agency. Thruout the state, there has been a 9.2 decrease de-crease during this same period. The percent of population receiving re-ceiving public assistance in Beaver County .during August, 1951, was 2.80, compared with a state-wide average of 3.77, the study reveals. The reduction in the number of welfare recipients in Utah has made possible cost-of-living increases in welfare grants for , those persons remaining oh the . public assistance rolls, Founda- lion analysts observe. A major i factor in recent grant increases I has been the effort to cushion j the impact of higher living costs for individuals dependent upon public assistance, the re- port continues. 1 Expenditures for public wel-. fare in Utah during the fiscal year ended June 30, 1951, amounted' to $11,879,641, the report states. Of this sum $6,- I 287,956 or 52.9 of the total j came from state funds, and $5,- 592,045 or 47.1 of the total' -:ame from federal aid. |
