Show Home Projects Prove Interesting and Profitable Every summer Mrs. Hansen, our Home Economics teacher, indulges in a summer home project. Each girl takes a project and spends a minimum of 60 hours on their project. Sewing was the most popular, with 25 girls taking part, but care of the home followed next with 15 girls. The flood helped them fill in their 60 hours. Five redecorated their own bedrooms, others improved their health habits and personal faults, and still others learned how to supply more vitamins and good food in their family diets, which they found were lacking. Along with this, they learned how to produce pro-duce tasty dishes using plain regular reg-ular foods such as carrots, cab- i bage, etc. j Child care was the job of some j girls. They learned how to direct i younger people's ideas, help them j value their time and teach them i worthwhile actions like dressing, proper eating habits, how to clean themselves, etc. One girl took family relations, and" another girl took over the meals and all the work on Sunday. Carol Jean Garfield surpassed them all, though. She prepared all the family meals and did all the (Continued on Page Four) HOME PROJECTS PROVE INTERESTING (Continued from Page One) v housework for one month while her mother was ill. In all, she spent 300 hours. Mrs. Hansen took great interest in this work. She rode 301 miles in Milford, spent 115 hours in homes, and spent countless hours making phone calls, mimeographing, mimeograph-ing, and making reports. Mrs. Hansen should be congratulated on her efforts to keep the girls interested, inter-ested, and on the time she spent directing and helping them. The girls made a very good showing this year and Mrs. Hansen Han-sen hopes that next year they will keep on with this worthwhile project. |
