Show Natural Resources Group to Feature Mine Development At Milford Meeting on Monday Milford has been chosen as the first community to be visited by members of the Natural Resources Committee of Utah Association Asso-ciation of Chamber of Commerce Executives, in its 1951-52 series of illustrated lectures. The traveling group, headed by Dr. EIRoy Nelson, director of research, will be in Milford on Monday, Oct. 8. A dinner meeting sponsored by the Milford Lions Club is scheduled for 8 p. m. at St. Bridget's Recreation Hall. The Beaver Lions Club, the Minersville Lions, and mining men of the area have been invited to attend the meeting. According to Kenneth L. . Archer, Lions Club president, the meeting will be highlighted by a motion picture and a color slide lecture presented by Dr. Nelson, who is director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Eco-nomic Research, University of Utah. This year's program, prepared especially to emphasize the importance im-portance of individual communities commun-ities in contributing to the r " -:- U- : ' - , ' -4 - jf " A '' If I Dr. EIRoy Nelson progress of the state and the development de-velopment of its natural resources, re-sources, is keynoted by the Encyclopedia En-cyclopedia Britannica f i 1 in "Productivity Key to Plenty." Dr Nelson's talk will throw the spotlight on the significance of transportation in the Milford area, and the importance of reopening re-opening the mines in Beaver County He will stress the role played by the search for metals below the levels previously mined. Also of significance to this area is the need for new products such as perlite, and, from the Black Rock area, volcanic vol-canic ash. In emphasizing the growth of the nation and Utah during the past century, Dr. 'Nelson will point out the probable future development, and what Utah must accomplish to prepare for the thousands of new jobs that will be required by the increasing increas-ing population in the next few decades. The current series of lectures is covering the southern part ot Utah with stops planned in JCr Citv and St. George on Cedar t-uy T in and Oct. 9, Kanab on Oct. 10, and Panguitch on Oct. 11.
