Opening prayer was by Mrs. Emma Davis ; singing was led by Mrs. Melba Baker, with Miss Eve McKnight accompanying at the piano. Mrs. Emily Dotson gave an interesting report on the Book of Mormon, which is tli estudy required for the Mutual. After classes, the closing prayer was given by Mrs Ileen Gray. ' i Primary Preparation meeting was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Gwen Pryor. Mis. Armina Banks, lesson in-i i structor, presented an interesting interest-ing and well prepared report. Fifteen teachers and officers were present. A lovely plate lunch was served by the hostess. host-ess. P.-T. A. meeting was held on Monday evening at the school house to discuss the extension course to be held at the school the latter part of the month. Mrs. Frank Carter is in California Cal-ifornia with her daughter Bonny, who has been ill. Announcement is made of the birth of a baby daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Murdock on Dec. 31, at the Iron County Hospital. The 7 lb 5 oz baby is the first child for the couple and the seventh grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Sim Murdock. The little Miss has been na lied Gail. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pryor are happy over the arrival of their first son, born Jan. 6th. The young man has three sisters sis-ters to welcome him home, and this makes the 13th grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pryor. Mrs. Keith Guymon of Cedar City has been in Minersville the past week, visiting her father, Mr. William Bradshaw. and family. Mrs. Lew Dean Barnes, recently re-cently en route to California with a brother-in-law and sister, sis-ter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ashley, suffered a ruptured appendix which necessitated an operation at Las Vegas, Nev. Mrs. Ashley remained with her, while her husband continued to their home with the children. Mr. Hayward Carter was taken to the Milford Hospital on Friday, suffering from pneumonia. pneu-monia. Mr. Horace Carter is in California Cali-fornia with his son, Mr. Elmer Carter, and family. Mrs. Madge Carter s in Par-owan Par-owan helping to take care of her daughter-in-law during her sudden illness. Mrs. Randall Banks returned the last of the week from Salt Lake City and Dragerton, where she had been visiting her children. Fast and Testimony meeting held Sunday evening was conducted con-ducted by Bishop Ruben W. Dotson. Opening prayer was by Delbert Jameson, singing was led by Alvaretta Robinson with Mrs. Phyllis Truman at the piano. One baby was blessed, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Hollingshead, named Madalyn by her father. The remainder of the time was given over to testimony by the congregation. Mrs. Nettie Myers gave the closing prayer. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Hollingshead Hol-lingshead arrived Sunday from Ft. Lewis, where Marshall is stationed with the National Guard. American Legion Auxiliary meeting was held Thursday at the home of Mrs. Reva Williams. Wil-liams. After business meeting, the remainder of the evening was spent doing handiwork. Those present to enjoy light refreshments were Mrs. Effle Marshall, Mrs. Barbara Gress-man, Gress-man, Mrs. Phyllis Truman, Mrs. Shirley Hollingshead and Mrs. Betty Marshall. Here for the holidays from Logan were Mr. and Mrs. James Eyre and four hildren. James is attending school at Logan. The family, aside from being homesick for Minersville enjoys their new enterprise. Miss Anne Williams is here spending several weeks with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dalton, aunt and uncle. Anne is slowly regaining regain-ing her health, which was impaired im-paired by rheumatic fever. Miss Penny Patterson arrived ar-rived home Saturday of last week to visit her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Patterson. Mrs. Alba Gillins suffered ill health during the holiday season sea-son but is slowly improving. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Goodwin spent a portion of the holidays In Cedar City, Enoch and Summit Sum-mit visiting their children. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Goodwin of Pioche spent Christmas in Minersville Min-ersville with the Goodwins. Mrs. Fontella Dotson and three daughters spent a portion of the holidays at Pioche, Nev., guests of the Glen Freemans. Announcement is made by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Averett of Washington, Utah, of the marriage mar-riage of their daughter, Audrey, to Ned Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Carter of Minersville. Miners-ville. The marriage took place n Las Vegas, Dec 23rd. Mrs. Arbateen Davis announces an-nounces the marriage of her daughter, Carol Ann, to Ivan Pearson, son of Mrs. Zora Pearson Pear-son of Junction. The marriage took place Dec. 10 at Parowan. |
