Show ARVILLA McCAIN SUFFERS ELECTRIC SHOCK FROM LIVE WIRE Arvilla McCain, 8-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. McCain, suffered an electric shock which left her unconscious uncons-cious when she touched a live wire in a shed on her father's farm. The wire was a 220-volt lead-in lead-in which had furnished current for a potato washing machine. After the harvest season last fall, Mr. McCain disconnected several wires at the transformer but missed the wire leading to the potato washing shed. Arvilla's little brother, Edward, Ed-ward, 6, climbing about the barn, came in contact with the wire and received a "jolt," but released the wire instantly. A few minutes later Arvilla, demonstrating dem-onstrating to her sister Janel, 13, how the youngster had received re-ceived the shock, took hold of both ends of the lead and, as she explained it, "It wouldn't let me go." When Janel was able to pull her loose from the wire, she was unconscious, but recovered quickly and has suffered no ill after-effects. |
