DALTONS OBSERVE 56TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY: WED IN MINERSVILLE July 18, 189456 years ago was the date WalterDal-ton WalterDal-ton and Mary Roseanne Colton exchanged marriage vows in Minersville, then a mining ad agricultural community with a larger population than it has today. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Dalton moved to the old Frisco mining camp, where he was employed in the Horn Silver mine. He also worked in the old Moscow, the Lincoln, Cave, and other early-day early-day mines. Returning to Minersville, Mr. Dalton engaged in the farming and livestock raising businesses, which avocations he followed until he retired several years ago. An ardent sportsment, he loved to roam the Minersville creek bank and the Beaver mountains, fishing for "rainbows," "rain-bows," and he enjoyed the reputation rep-utation of being a "one-shot" deer hunter. He still enjoys horse racing and attends all the near-by meets. Mrs. Dalton, besides being known as a solicitous mother and an excellent wife, is famous in Southern Utah for her musical mu-sical ability, being adept with the harmonica and banjo, and in former years she was always in demand at all the old-time barn dances held in this area. Both natives of Minersville. Mr. Dalton was born May 1, 1871, and Mrs. Dalton was born June 27, 1876. They have four sons, George A. Dalton of Long Beach, Ambrose Dalton of Beaver, Walter C. Dalton of Hollywood and Harold W. Dalton Dal-ton of Idaho. They also have eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. They spent their anniversary quietly in Braver, being honored hon-ored at a lovely dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Dalton. Mr. and Mrs. Vic Jameson and Mrs. Jameson's mother, Mrs. Gertrude Butler of England, Eng-land, arrived in Minersville last week for a visit with Mr. Jameson's Jame-son's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mer-ril Mer-ril Jameson and family, Vic, who is stationed with the U S Army in Great Britain, is being kept busy renewing acquaint-Continued acquaint-Continued on Back Page XLbis meeh Un IIMncrsvnllc liy MRS. Soon after their arrival an outing out-ing honoring the group was held at Pine Valley, Washington county, with the immediate family present. The outing was arranged in that vicinity so that Mrs. Butler could see the St. George temple. The group returned Tuesday from Salt Lake, where they enjoyed en-joyed the 24th Pioneer Day celebration. Wednesday evening eve-ning a party in their honor was held "up the river." Those present, besides the three guests of honor, were Mr. and Mrs. Merril Jameson, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Limb and son Bruce of Beaver, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jameson and son Richard of Cedar City, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Jameson and daughter and granddaughter, Mrs. Dorene O'Leary and Karma Rae; Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Jameson and son Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Royal Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wood and their families, and tivc-s and Mr. Carter's parents, .Mr. and Mrs. Horace Carter. Willden Carter, another son, who has been home on leave from the U S Navy, returned Friday to active duty. He is itationed at Muroc, Calif., with the Navy Air Force. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Nichols and children, Gordon, Judy, Barry and Roger, of Antimony, vis ted over the holiday with Mrs. Nichols' mother, Mrs. Mathews. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Carter and Pamela, of Parowan, were visitors vis-itors on the 24th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Jule Gillins enjoyed en-joyed a visit with fihe'.r son Harold over the long week-end. Harold is serving a mission with the L D S Church at Rawlins, Raw-lins, Wyo. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Clif-ford Terry of Midvale were also in the group making the trip. Mrs. Terry is Harold's sister. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams and Mrs. Margaret Williams are visiting in Idaho. Mrs .1. N. Nolder spend the 24th with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Williams, in Milford. Nimble Thimble 4-H Club Our meeting was called to order by President Dvane Hol-lingshead. Hol-lingshead. Opening song, "God Bless America," was followed by prayer by Deanean Davis. Other songs were "Camp Days" and "America the Beautiful" We worked on pot holders and finished our scarves. Now we are making aprons. We talked about our trip to Kent's Lake. We have a visitor from Compton, Calif., Brenda Lee White. Reporter, Stewart. Sacrament service Sunday evening was as follows: Opening Open-ing prayer, Delbert Jameson; talk, Deacon Baker; story, Pioneer, Pio-neer, Mrs. Bernice Gillins; Ladies' chorus, "Utah, Star of All the West"; talk, Mrs. Shirley Shir-ley Hollingshead; congregational congregation-al singing led by Harold Baker, accompanied at the piano by Phyllis Truman; closing prayer, Mrs: Verjean Jameson. Mr. and Mrs. Hilton G:llins and family spent Saturday and Sunday at Gunnison visiting parents of Mrs. Gillins. Mrs. Maurice Smith and sn:all daughter of Provo are here visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gol-die Gol-die Marshall. Mrs Gertrude McKenzie is in California with her sister Theo, helping to care for her brother-in-law, who is ill. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Sherwin Wood had a full day of sightseeing sight-seeing on Sunday. The two couples left early and arrived Mr. and Mrs. Sherwin Wood. A birthday party honoring i Mrs. Edna Baker was held at ; Ponderosa Park Sunday. I Mrs. Clyde Hollingshead and daughter Mary returned Sunday Sun-day from Salt Lake, where Mary recefved medical treat-1 ment for a bone ailment. Her J foot is now in a cast but recov-1 ery is "encouraging." I Mrs. Elaine Rynn and son Johnnie of Salt Lake City have been here visiting her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Albrecht. Mrs. Rynn returned to her home in Salt Lake on Tuesday. j Mr. and Mrs. Vance Roberts entertained last week at their home in South Milford with a lovely chicken dinner. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Daisel Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pearson, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Mil-ton Albrecht, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Truman, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Hollingshead, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Dotson, Mrs. Shirley Hollingshead, and Mrs. Elaine Ryan. Prizes at rummy were won by Reva Albrecht, Marshall Mar-shall HolUngshead and Shirley Hollingshead. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Griffiths of Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Stan Fisher of Midvale were here over the week-end visiting relatives and friends. Mrs. Griffiths and Mrs. Fisher are daughters of Mrs. Lily Roberts and Mr. Fisher is a son of Mrs. M. D. Fisher. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Carter and children, Gary, Judy, Carol and Scott, of San Diego, Calif., 1 are here vacationing with rela- guitch Lake the early part of the week. I Mr. and Mrs. William Wood went to Salt Lake early Tuesday Tues-day morning, where Mrs. Wood will receive medical attention for an injured hand which is not healing as desired. M;ss Ruth Marshall and Miss Nona Eyre were passengers on the trip, returning to employment for Ruth and beauty school for Nona. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Goodwin Good-win were in town over the week-end, from their home in Cedar City, visiting Mr. Goodwin's Good-win's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Fisher. Mrs. E. M. Allen and daughter daugh-ter Dixie, of Midvale, are here visiting her daughter, Mrs. Fontella Dotson. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rollins Rol-lins of Cedar City were visitors in Minersville and Beaver on July 24th. Mrs. Eva Guymon and sons are here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Marshall, and her brothers and families, and to attend the wedding reception re-ception of Val Marshall and his wife.
